Jubilee Rendon continues to win.
The El Paso Franklin sophomore took home first place at the Texas Ladies Outlaw tournament held Friday and Saturday at Allen High School.
The no. 1-ranked wrestler in Class 6A in her weight class went 5-0 to claim the 100-pound championship on Saturday.
She was voted the most outstanding wrestler for the lower weight classes — 100 to 132 — and helped her squad finish second overall with 385 points. Allen won the team title with 430 points
Rendon had pins in four of her five matches and the other was an 11-2 major decision. She pinned Allen’s Matti Givens, ranked No. 10 in 6A, in the finals in 3:20.
Rendon is now 35-0 on the year and has won 40 in a row dating back to winning the title last year.
Katy took third overall with 380 points to bring home the last team trophy, while Norman North (Oklahoma) placed fourth.
The Tigers had one champion, coming from senior Terra Pitts. The senior, ranked No. 13 in Class 6A, won the 152-pound bracket. She
Pitts went 5-0 and knocked off Class 6A No. 6-ranked Leona Layne by a pin in 45 seconds in the final. All five of Pitts’ victories were by falls.
Three other champions came from outside of the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex.
At 107, Class 6 No. 6-ranked Rachel Corley won the title. The Cedar Park senior went 5-0 and dominated Frisco Centennial’s Mia Ramirez in the finals by a 14-0 major decision. In the semifinals, she handed Norman North’s Ava Grandos a 3-0 decision and her first loss of the season….
