Jasmine Robinson secured a trifecta of plaques in her final Texas Ladies Outlaw tournament this past weekend.
The Allen senior won the 165-pound championship, was named the most outstanding wrestler for the upper weight classes and also helped the Eagles take home first place.
She was one of three individual champions for Allen, which rolled up 430 points, 45 points ahead of El Paso Franklin.
The No. 1-ranked wrestler in 6A was her usual dominant self with 6 pins all in 1:30 or less. She barely wrestled a little more than a minute combined between her semifinal and finals — 1:13.
“It is really fun and it’s always fun to add to my accolades,” Robinson said. “Our girls have come a long way. I didn’t do it by myself, it took the whole team to do it.”
In a way, she played a part in another championship for the Eagles.
Freshman Kalin Sebert won the 120-pound championship via a pin over Violet De La Cruz from The Woodlands College Park with a pin in 2:48.
Robinson was near the mat helping coach up the No. 7-ranked wrestler, helping her turn a 4-0 lead into a fall.
“She was like ‘I can’t have my practice partner get beat,’” Sebert said Robinson’s coaching. “She really helps me a lot.”
Sebert went 6-0 — all pins — and is now 18-1 on the season.
Allen’s Esther Peters claimed the 235-pound crown in a top-three showdown in the finals. The No. 2-ranked Peters (25-0) beat No. 3-ranked Rylei Davis from Plano by a 9-2 decision.
