Dominic Wilson will remember the 2023-24 wrestling season for years to come.
It wasn’t because he was at the top of the podium when the UIL season ended.
Quite the opposite.
He didn’t make it to the postseason. Ranked No. 1 in Class 6A at 132 pounds, he didn’t make weight at districts and his season came to an end.
Wilson is left to wonder what might’ve been since he beat guys that were the state champions, third-place finisher and fourth-place finisher at the state meet.
Wilson, a sophomore, is aware he can’t do much about the past. He’s locked in improving this summer.
“This summer is definitely important,” he said. “I didn’t end my (high school) season the way I wanted. This is my redemption. A chance to prove myself.”
He said the missed weight is always on his head nowadays. Wilson is using the mistake as fire to get better and become one of the best wrestlers in the state again in the 2024-25 school year.
Since the high school season ended, he took first place in the junior boys and 16U boys greco and freestyle tournaments in Coppell in March. In early April, he went to Virginia Beach and took All-American honors at the NHSCA High School Nationals….
