IRVING, Texas – After an exciting opening day at the 2019 Women’s Nationals, the Junior World Team is set in women’s freestyle, and it includes five past age-group World medalists.

The Junior World Championships are set for August 12-18 in Tallinn, Estonia.

Leading off the Junior World Team is 50 kg representative Alleida Martinez, who won Cadet World silver in 2015 and Cadet World bronze in 2016.

En route to earning her second-straight bid to Junior Worlds, Martinez took out multiple-time age-group World Team member McKayla Campbell in the semifinals before knocking off 2018 Cadet World champion and Youth Olympic champion Emily Shilson in an exciting finals series that was forced to three matches.

2016 Cadet World bronze medalist Gracie Figueroa also won a three-match finals against 2018 Cadet World bronze winner and EAP athlete Tiare Ikei at 53 kg.

Figueroa won the first bout, 3-0, but Ikei sent it to a third match with a 4-2 win in their second meeting.

Figueroa secured the series win with a second-period fall in the third bout. She heads to her second Junior Worlds and fifth overall age-group Worlds.

Both Martinez and Figueroa were 2019 WCWA champions for Menlo College earlier this year.

Seeking her fourth World medal in as many attempts is Macey Kilty, who will compete at her second-consecutive Junior Worlds.

Kilty, who recently took third in the Senior division at the U.S. Open, knocked off Cara Broadus in two-straight matches with a pair of tech falls in the 65 kg finals.

A Wisconsin native, Kilty is a 2018 Cadet World champion, 2018 Junior World silver medalist and 2016 Cadet World bronze winner.

At 62 kg, 2016 Cadet World bronze medalist and 2017 Cadet World silver medalist Alara Boyd will head back to the big stage after a dominating performance on Friday.

In her six matches of the day, Boyd won five by tech fall, one by pin and surrendered only two points.

She was pitted against 2018 Cadet World Team member Cheyenne Bowman in the finals. Boyd won the first match with a fall in 1:30 before wrapping up the series with a 12-0 tech fall.

Going to her first Junior World Championships is 2018 U23 World bronze medalist and McKendree University star Korinahe Bullock, representing the U.S. at 76 kg.

Bullock, also a 2018 Final X runner-up, punched her ticket to Estonia with a pair of decisive wins against Campbellsville’s Kenya-Lee Sloan, 12-0 and 10-1, in the finals.

There are three other wrestlers that earned back-to-back bids to the Junior World Championships, including 2018 U.S. Open champion Alex Hedrick of Simon Fraser at 55 kg, 2018 Senior National Team member Jayden Laurent at 68 kg and 2019 U.S. Open champion and Final X participant Alyvia Fiske at 72 kg.

Also returning to the Junior World stage is 2017 Junior World Teamer Cameron Guerin at 55 kg.

Rounding out the squad is Hawkeye Wrestling Club athlete Michaela Beck, who won the spot at 59 kg. Beck is a 2018 U.S. Open runner-up and 2018 Junior World Team Trials runner-up.
