El Paso Eastwood won its third title in four years, finishing the Class 6A girls wrestling championship with 82 1/2 points.
The Lady Troopers led Allen by 7 1/2 points heading into the finals. Hailey Delgado was in the finals, while Allen had two in the finals.
A loss by Delgado and two wins by Allen would’ve given the Eagles state title No. 5.
Instead, Delgado added her second title in two tries, Allen lost by finals and now Eastwood has state title No. 4, forging a tie for third all-time in UIL girls wrestling history.
Flower Mound scored 10 points in the finals with two wins and became the runner-up. It was the first-ever trophy for the Jaguars.
Allen took third with 70, 1/2 points ahead of Katy, which was fourth with 69.
Delgado got an 11-0 major decision over Alia Baker of Klein Cain in the 110-pound finals. She’s 2-for-2 in titles and is now 97-0.
Repeat champions
Three out of six possible returning champions from 2025 were back on the top spot on the podium.
Delgado was one.

The others were Katy’s Emily Beltran and The Woodlands College Park’s Landri Von Gonten.
Beltran, a senior, finished this year 49-0 after winning the 105-pound title. Adding in her 107-pound title last year, she’s won 97 in a row.

Von Gonten won her third straight tile and her second with College Park, thanks to a pin in 1:33 against Allen’s Kailin Sebert. The final match of the day featured a pair of defending state champions.

Von Gonten was 42-1 this year and will look to become 5th four-time state champion next year.
Nearly perfect
Flower Mound won back-to-back titles at 170 pounds and 190 pounds.
Aisha Williams Bautista won by a pin in 38 seconds against Lancaster’s Victoria Brown in the 170-pound finals. Williams Bautista was 64-1 this year and won her last 29 matches.

Wema Laktari followed with the 190-pound title with an ultimate tiebreaking win, 1-0, against Cibolo Byron P. Steele High School’s Asaiya Golphin.

Laktari was 54-0 this year.
