MELISSA, Texas — Angelo Ferrari, the No. 1 recruit in the Class of 2024, knew what school he was going to commit to on Wednesday when a ceremony was held at the Melissa Championship Center.
He gave a little bit of dramatics in front of friends, family and teammates to announce his choice.
The junior and first state champion Melissa’s history sat down in front of three hats.
One was black with a red scarlet R for Rutgers. The other had VT with the orange and maroon for Virginia Tech.
The third hat was black with Iowa’s yellow Hawkeye.
As he announced his decision — live-streamed on FloWrestling — he grabbed a navy Penn State hat with the Nittany Lion log.
He pulled it up toward the table.
The anticipation grew…
