The Team Texas coaching staff will be sending some of the top girls’ wrestlers in the state to two different venues for competition this week.
The 14/16U girls will head to Westfield, Indiana to compete in the 14/16U Women’s Dual at the Grand Park Events Center.
One of the notable names on the roster is UIL all-stater Nevada Daniels from Katy Cinco Ranch. The soon-to-be junior went 50-6 last year for Katy Cinco Ranch and took 4th place in Class 6A at 114 pounds.
One of her two losses at the state meet came against Vanessa De La Cruz from Conroe Woodlands College Park — who is on the junior team for Team Texas.
“It means a lot to represent the state before and being able to support Texas and represent it always means a lot,” said Daniels, who will also wrestle for Texas in Fargo next month.
Her goal is to go undefeated at the competition and continue the success she’s had this summer. In 10 tournaments since the UIL state meet, she’s won first place in 7 of them and was in the finals of two others.
