These rankings reflect recent performances and overall dominance heading into the heart of the season. Allen continues to dominate across multiple divisions, while teams like Katy, El Paso Eastwood, and Melissa are making strong statements with multiple ranked wrestlers.
6A Boys Rankings
The 6A boys division remains fiercely competitive, with Allen asserting dominance by placing an impressive 10 wrestlers in the top 20 across various weight classes, amassing a leading 104 team points. Standouts like Izayiah Chavez (#1 at 120 lbs), Cayden Campbell (#1 at 132 lbs), Cayden Rios (#1 at 138 lbs), Steel Meyers (#1 at 165 lbs), Carter Nekvapil (#2 at 175 lbs), and Aiden Cooley (#1 at 215 lbs) highlight Allen’s unmatched depth, particularly in the middle and upper weights, positioning them as early favorites for a state title run. Katy schools collectively shine with 8 ranked athletes and 92 team points, led by Josue Pizana at #1 in 126 lbs and Santiago Garcia Contreras at #2 in 132 lbs, showcasing the area’s talent factory. El Paso Eastwood and Conroe Woodlands College Park also boast strong showings, with Eastwood’s Hector Ortiz holding #1 at 106 lbs and Woodlands’ Nick Payne at #2 in 106 lbs, rounding out robust regional representations from West Texas and the Houston area.
Big movements are injecting fresh energy into the rankings, including freshmen phenoms like Oliver Pulliam maintaining #1 at 113 lbs in his second ranking appearance, and Gavin Hogan Cook from Temple leaping from #18 to #11 at 106 lbs (7-spot gain). Other notable risers include Shawn Coffel of Cibolo Steele entering at #8 in 120 lbs from unranked (NR), and Shea Yudizky of Rockwall-Heath surging 11 spots from #18 to #7 at 165 lbs, signaling breakout potential. District-wise, District 9 leads with 198 total team points, fueled by Allen and other Collin County powerhouses, while District 3 follows closely at 172 points from Katy and Fort Bend schools. This district concentration, especially in Region 2 (318 points overall), foreshadows heated regional qualifiers and sets the stage for epic clashes as the postseason nears.
Team Depth & Efficiency Leaders
- Allen – 10 ranked wrestlers, 104 team points → 10.4 pts per ranked wrestler
- Katy schools combined – 8 ranked, 92 pts → 11.5 pts per wrestler
- El Paso Eastwood – 6 ranked, 70 pts → 11.7 pts per wrestler
- Conroe Woodlands College Park – 6 ranked, 62 pts → 10.3 pts per wrestler
Allen wins on volume, but Eastwood and Katy schools are squeezing more points per athlete — a huge advantage when injuries or weight cuts hit late in the season.
6A Girls Rankings
El Paso Eastwood is the undisputed powerhouse in the 6A girls division, leading all teams with 116 team points from just 6 ranked wrestlers—a testament to their efficiency and dominance, particularly in the lighter weight classes where they hold two #1 spots and multiple podium finishes. Sophomores Allessandra Toscano (#1 at 105 lbs) and Hailey Delgado (#1 at 110 lbs) anchor the top of their brackets with commanding 25-point performances, while seniors Genaveve Gonzalez (#5 at 120 lbs) and Daniela Hernandez (#2 at 135 lbs) add crucial depth, alongside Nayeli Ortiz (#4 at 125 lbs) and junior Isabella Moreno (#3 at 170 lbs). This balanced lineup across weights positions Eastwood as the early frontrunner for a state championship, with their District 1 peers contributing to a region-leading 179 total points, setting up intense West Texas battles.
While Eastwood sets the pace, Allen counters with sheer volume, boasting 10 ranked wrestlers for 82 points, including standouts like Mattilyn Givens (#3 at 110 lbs) and others scattered in the top 10, emphasizing their program depth in District 6 (195 points, the highest district total). Katy schools, such as Katy Cinco Ranch (7 ranked, part of District 9’s strong showing), and Conroe Woodlands College Park (63 points) round out the contenders, with Houston Cyp. Ranch and Cibolo Steele adding points through consistent placers. Freshmen breakthroughs like Vada McCubbin’s 18-spot rocket from #20 to #2 at 100 lbs for Cibolo Steele inject excitement, though Eastwood’s wrestlers have held steady with minimal movement, relying on proven consistency rather than flashes.
Eastwood’s edge in points per wrestler (19.3 average) highlights their quality over quantity approach, contrasting Allen’s broader but slightly less potent spread. As Region 1 surges ahead with high-scoring districts like 1 and 6, expect Eastwood to face stiff challenges from emerging talents in Districts 8 (142 points) and 4 (141 points), where schools like Richmond Foster (61 points) are building momentum. These dynamics promise thrilling duals and tournaments as the season unfolds.. Turning heads at 120 is new #1 Tiana Crawford from Rockwall Heath. Crawford has been on an absolute domination start of the 25-26 season with an 11-0 start with over nine of those wins coming from pins, including a fourteen second pin. #7 from Prinecton, Erin Marquez, has been Crawford’s closest match at 10-5 to start the season.

- Borger – 4 ranked, 51 pts → 12.8 pts per wrestler
- Region 1 total team points: 637 (nearly double Region 3’s 341)
Palo Duro’s five ranked girls are averaging a ridiculous 14.2 points each — the highest efficiency of any girls team in Texas right now. Region 1 is absolutely loaded.
Prep Boys Rankings
The Prep division spotlights elite private school talent, where St. Thomas Catholic emerges as a powerhouse with 7 ranked wrestlers across key weight classes, including Pierce Ritchey holding dual #1 spots at 120 and 126 lbs, Behsod Rakhmatov at #1 in 113 lbs, and Joshua Guzman at #3 in 165 lbs—demonstrating their versatility and depth in the lighter-to-middle weights. St. Johns School Houston closely follows with 6 top performers, dominating heavier classes like Walker Benoit (#1 at 138 lbs), Henry Haufrect (#1 at 150 lbs), and Thomas Wade (#1 at 175 lbs), underscoring a balanced attack that could challenge for team supremacy. Bishop Lynch and Cornerstone Christian round out the top contenders, each with 5 ranked athletes; Bishop Lynch features Maddox Preskitt at #1 in 132 lbs and multiple top-3 finishes, while Cornerstone shines with Xavier Stoops at #1 in 165 lbs and Shaun Hernandez at #3 in 190 lbs, adding intrigue to TAPPS tournaments.
While full movement data is limited in this abbreviated format, emerging stars like freshmen Javonni Escobar (#1 at 106 lbs for St. Johns) and sophomores such as Ferris Gottich (#2 at 113 lbs for St. Marks) are already turning heads with early-season pins and tech falls. The concentration of talent in Houston-area schools (St. Thomas, St. Johns, Kinkaid) suggests intense local rivalries, with TAPPS state rankings showing St. Thomas leading in projected points. As the least-followed division, these hidden gems often produce state qualifiers—keep an eye on crossovers to UIL events for even bigger impacts.
Team Depth & Efficiency Leaders
- St. Thomas Catholic – 7 ranked, projected ~150 TAPPS points → 21.4 pts per wrestler
- St. Johns School Houston – 6 ranked → ~19.2 pts per wrestler
- Bishop Lynch – 5 ranked → ~18.8 pts per wrestler
- Cornerstone Christian – 5 ranked → ~17.6 pts per wrestler
Because Prep only ranks only top-5 per weight, the points-per-wrestler numbers are naturally sky-high. St. Thomas Catholic is currently outscoring everyone on paper.
