Tarleton State Thanksgiving Wrestling Camp

In Schertz, TX, a Tarleton State University Thanksgiving Wrestling camp was held at NB Elite facilities, drawing participation from around 25 female wrestlers and 80 male wrestlers from various high schools from South and Central Texas. Clinician Grant Leeth, the new head coach for Tarleton State University, led the session, focusing on techniques such as several variations to the Iranian using a 2 on 1 and an underhook.

Head Coach Sam Arrieta from Comal Pieper made the connection with Coach Leeth to hold the wrestling camp.  Steve Horton of NB Elite was gracious enough to host the camp.  It was a short 2 hour session that was packed with technique and a question and answer session for both wrestlers and parents.

During the camp, Leeth actively engaged with the participants, walking around, and providing individualized attention to several pairs. The rigorous training session was a post-Thanksgiving endeavor, with participants acknowledging the challenge of maintaining weight for upcoming matches. Wrestlers, ever mindful of their training and diet, strike a balance between indulging in the holiday feast and ensuring they stay prepared through additional time in the gym, focusing on technique and cardio.

The event also had a philanthropic aspect, as donations were collected for the D1 Wrestling Program at Tarleton State University.  The goal of 2 million dollars needs to be met to allow Tarleton State University to be the first D1 program in Texas. If anyone would like to make a contribution please donate to the Tarleton Fund.
