Tarleton Brings Home Dual Titles, Clutches the Southwest Conference & Heads to NCWA Nationals
Tarleton went to Wayne, Nebraska for the NCWA Southwest Conference Championships and did what a top team is supposed to do. They won the conference title with 236 points, finishing 141 points clearof second place. That tournament is the qualifier for nationals, and Tarleton came out of it with a loaded group moving on to NCWA Nationals (March 26–28).
They’re also carrying real momentum from earlier in the postseason. Tarleton won NCWA National Duals titles on both the men’s and women’s side, which tells you the same thing the conference tournament did: this program isn’t just good in one format. They can win dual meets and they can score in a bracket.
On the men’s side, the Southwest Conference weekend was another sign the room is deep right now. Teammates ran into each other late at multiple weights, and a few guys made a clear statement heading into March.
- Noah Clayton (125) got a big one, beating a guy who had given him problems last season.
- Zeke Liescheski (174) looked sharp and did what he’s supposed to do heading into postseason.
- Colin Vasquez (197) had one of the bigger jumps in the lineup compared to last year.
- Jackson Phillips (285) gave them a heavyweight win, which always matters in March.
Now it turns into the real test. Tarleton goes to nationals as the top-ranked team, and that means every round is going to feel like a spotlight. Menlo is right there too, and the team race should be tight.
On the women’s side, the same theme applies. They’ve already proven they can win as a team, and now they get their shot to finish the year the right way at nationals.
Tarleton has put itself in position. Conference title. Dual titles. Now it’s time for the biggest weekend of the season.
