The first round of day 2 didn’t go Texas’s way, out of 18 wrestlers. 10 made their exit, while only 8 got the win with 4 of those 8 on the championship side.
After that it pretty much was over for Texas EXCEPT for Charlie Trujillo the lone wrestler to make day 3 with only 2 more matches to win to make All-American

The Illinois wrestler that beat Perez at 190lbs yesterday didn’t do so well against Cody Savage, as Savage almost got the tech fall without giving up any points before the Illinois wrestler made it a match in the 2nd period almost coming back to win, but Savage pulls it out 11-8.
Perez did come back strong getting the tech fall in his first match of the day.
126lb Oliver Pulliam almost got the tech fall at 9-0 in his 2nd match of the day in the first period, which it really should have been as the other wrestler stepped out, but it wasn’t called. In the 2nd period it appeared he ran out of gas, as he loses 22-11. Then again in his next match to make his exit.
132lbs-Charlie Trujillo started his championship side with a win over a Fargo finalist but lost the next match to the #2 seed, a Fargo champ and nationally ranked. But came back strong to win his consolation match to make day #3. Trujillo needs 2 more wins to
All-American.
157-Daniel Acosta made it to the round of 16 before taking a loss to #3 nationally ranked and #4 seed wrestler from Illinois. Then loses the next match to a Kansas wrestler to make his exit.
175lbs-Jared Remington came into the day meeting a wrestler from Ohio who tech falled him in the first minute, that wrestler went on to beat the #4 seed as well. Remington lost his next match as well making his exit.
190lbs-Cody Savage wins his first match to make it to the round of 16 where he runs into the #12 nationally ranked wrestler of Nebraska whom gave him his first loss. Savage’s next match was a loss as well from an Ohio wrestler to end his freestyle run.
190lbs-Sean Perez while on the consolation side reeled off 4 wins before taking a loss to the #18 nationally ranked Pennsylvania wrestler. Perez thus far through 2 days has wrestled the most matches, but his last lost was it for the tournament.
285lbs-Grant Bahnsen started his morning off barely losing to a Colorado wrestler. Bahnsen then reeled off 2 more wins on the consolation side before running into an Iowa wrestler who barely beats him as well to give him his exit.
Yesterday’s notes from the junior matches, bad first round draws. Drezdyn Ballard at 157lbs first lost was to the 2024 16U Fargo Champion. Santiago Garcia’s at 132lbs first loss was from a 2025 Fargo 16U champion.
