Pssst – Season isn't over yet…next month's events

While some wrestlers are celebrating their performance at the Berry Center last weekend, and others are still recovering from unexpected shortfalls…a number of wrestlers are hitting the weight room and training centers preparing for the next big events! Registration is open for the final folkstyle wrestling events of the season.
For the girls (born between 1995 and 2011), the US Marine Corps USAW Folkstyle National Championships are March 22-25 right up the road in Oklahoma City. Registration page for the event is here. Depending on demand, Wrestling Texas may be providing action photography coverage of this event.
Boys have two national events on consecutive weekends.  On March 23-25, the National High School Coaches’ Association hosts the middle school and high school folkstyle nationals in Virginia Beach, VA.  In the high school division, boys wrestle only against boys in ther own grade, freshman through senior.  Registration for the event is open on their website, several Texas boys have already registered. Wrestling Texas will be providing action photo coverage of this event!
And finally, the USAW Folkstyle Nationals, the first leg of the USAW triple crown, will be help in Cedar Falls, Iowa on March 29-31.  High school aged boys re split between cadet and junior division based on date of birth. This event also includes a “last stand” tournament for wrestlers in age groups Bantam through Schoolboy who go 0-2 or 1-2 in the tournament.  Registration for this event is also open via the USAW website.  Wrestling Texas will be providing action photo coverage in Iowa as well.
Action photo requests can be submitted, for ALL age groups, on the Spotlight request page.
Looking ahead  – Freestyle and Greco-Roman season starts in April with the Texas State Championships in May – Wrestling Texas will be there in force – so don’t hang up those wrestling shoes just yet, there is a lot of competition left and medals to be won, even for graduating seniors!
