The Texas UIL State Wrestling Championships provided plenty of memories and historic accomplishments in the two-day event at the Berry Center in Cypress.
There were also many historic wins or historic matches for schools from across the Lone Star State.
According to our historian Ray Shoaf and the UIL historical almanac, we identified 20 athletes we wanted to highlight for their success at the 2026 state finals.
A group of 21 wrestlers — we’ll explain — are a combination of first-time state finalists for their schools or first-time state champions, to go along with being the first-time finalists.

At this level, there were three champions that won for the first time in their program’s history: Shelby Coyle from Henrietta, Rubie Chavez from San Elizario and Alyciana Rogers from Liberty Hill.
In what was a unique match at 135 pounds, Coyle became the first state champion from Henrietta with a pin in 1:54 against Robin Conkle from North Richland Hills Birdville.
Conkle became the first Birdville girls wrestler in the finals.
Henrietta had Dalilah Coyle in the finals at 114 pounds last year, but she took second.
