Tamyra Mensah is World Ranked

Former Wayland Baptist standout Tamyra Mensah is among five American wrestlers ranked in the United World Wrestling women’s freestyle world rankings. Mensah is ranked No. 8 at 69 kg/152 pounds.

A member of the U.S. World Team, Mensah has been active this season. Most notably, she won the prestigious Ivan Yarygin tournament in Russia, becoming only the sixth U.S. woman to do so. She also tallied wins at the World Team Trials in Las Vegas and Beat the Streets on Times Square in New York City.

Mensah completed her eligibility at Wayland this spring. She received the Roscoe Snyder Award as Wayland’s top female senior athlete for 2016-17, recognizing not only her athletic ability and accomplishments but also academics, character, and the ideals of what Wayland attempts to accomplish through intercollegiate athletics.
