Well it came down to the last 2 matches but Gray Harbor College edges out Schreiner by 2.5 points. Ā On the positive side Schreiner Ā got their 1st National Champion when Alyssa Alvarez (Prosper High School) defeated Jackie Castro of Gray Harbor at 235. Ā Final team score was 65.5 Gray Harbor and 63 for Schreiner.
Schreiner left 4 top ranked national wrestlers at home due to injury that would of made up for at least the 3 points needed to win, actually Schreiner would of won by a large margin. With only bringing 6 women wrestlers Schreiner placed 5 in the top 4
Head Coach Troy Jewell also won Head Coach of the Year Award
Congratulations to Schreiner University and Coach Jewell on their accomplishments in their first year as a team.
