Coppell High School served as the host of the A Mid-Summer Mat Bash, which was held July 25-27.
The event brought in teams from six states and that didnāt include one Texas team that chose to represent a different school each year ā this year, California.
The event featured some of the top wrestling programs in North Texas, while solid teams from Indiana, Oklahoma, Illinois, Missouri, Nebraska and Kansas took part in the event.
The boys’ event wrapped up on Sunday, July 27.
In the Gold bracket, Lone Star Mat Club Blue posted a 39-27 win over Warrior Trained ā which was essentially Allen vs. Arlington Martin from the high school season and the top two teams in the standings.





Lone Star Blue featured Izayiah Chavez, Carter Nekvapil, Cayden Rios and Aiden āCashā Cooley from Allen, Benbrookās Landry Wilkinson and Southlake Carrollās Luke Burgar.
Warrior Trained featured Maryville University signee Nic Zamora from Martin, Round Rockās Dayne Garcia-Stormer, a Wayland Baptist signee, Carl Albert signee Grayson Carpenter from Martin, KT Ellis from Martin and Charles Alvarez from Midlothian.
In the Silver Pool, Deadshot Wrestling Club from Alton, Texas, took first with a 48-35 win over Kansas Mayhem from Maize, Kansas.
An internet outage at Coppell on Sunday meant individual results from the tournament were not available.
The girls’ tournament, which ended on Saturday, wrestled out to 13th place.
In the championship, Queens of Mayhem defeated Nebraska Bear Necessities, 47-33.
Two runs helped the team from Kansas win. From 165 to 215, the Queens won three in a row and scored 16 points. The last of the three wins was from Molly Marty, a Class 6A runner-up at 235 this past high school season.
The team also won 107 to 120 and got 14 points in that span. Brooklyn Simpson, a state medalist in 5A for Goddard, got a win at 120. Abbie Slothower, third in 5A from Salina Central, won at 114 and Wichitaās Reanna Spangler won at 107.
LBK Elite, from Lubbock, took third with a 48-34 win over the Lady Chargers from Kansas.
In a competitive match, LBK Elite won four in a row from 95 pounds to 114 pounds ā the only stretch with more than two straight from a team. UIL medalists Katelynn Dockery (Bryan) and Tylie Ramos (Lubbock Cooper) picked up wins during that stretch for the Texas squad. State runner-up Jasmine Vick (Amarillo Palo Duro) and fourth-place medalist Zoie Gomez (Lubbock Coronado) also added wins for the Texans.
The Lady Chargers got 18 of the 34 points from forfeits.
Wins in matches came from Sky Kelly from Santa Fe Trail and Olive Jones from Tecumseh-Shawnee Heights.
