Another Wrestling Team Coming to North Texas

One of the fastest growing areas in the State of Texas is getting a second-High School name Rock Hill,  in Prosper ISD! For those unfamiliar with Prosper ISD, it is north of Dallas. The school will be located on Frisco’s east side and have an enrollment of under 1,800 students. The 97-acre campus will boast state of the art facilities throughout the 600,000 square foot campus including a Competition arena, two practice gyms, auditorium, lab space, classrooms, an interior courtyard, a multi-purpose athletic facility (MPF) and new Mat Room. Rock Hill Blue Hawks will have grades 9-12 attending in its first year and will open as a 5A school.

Rock Hill will be the New Kids on the Rock but led by a well-known Coach Huynh, who is entering his 8th year of coaching in Texas with stops at Round Rock McNeil, Southlake Carroll, and Forth Worth Chisholm Trail High School. Coach Huynh M.Ed. (pronounced HWin) can be described as competitive, technical, and goal oriented. He focuses on a holistic approach with mindset training, leadership development, a structured strength and conditioning program, and a system for all athletes to be successful. “I will be forever grateful for the opportunity at Chisholm Trail High the bonds and relationships built there, and I know they are in position to be very successful! All the athletes I have ever coach know that I care about them off the mat and on the mat.”

This will be Coach Huynh’s second opportunity to build a program from the beginning, while at Round Rock McNeil he was able to establish a very competitive program and even helped them win a District Championship while winning numerous awards. “I have always enjoyed growing wrestling, and this is an opportunity to grow wrestling at Rock Hill. I am excited to be a part of building a program from ground up because a city on a hill cannot be hidden.” Coach Huynh has already been in contact with Texas High School Wrestling Coaches Association President Coach Stevens and Head Coach of Anna HS to share information who started a new program this past fall. In addition, spoke Coach King from Prosper and coaches from the Prosper Talon Wrestling Club team to share ideas to build wrestling in Prosper, Texas. If you are looking to get the Rock Hill Blue Hawks on your schedule, reach out to Coach Huynh. The Blue Hawks look to take flight this year on the mat! Hope everyone is doing well in the Social Distancing and using this team to spend some quality time with your family and loved ones.

Behind the Design – Rock Hill High School

The architectural character of Rock Hill High School takes on a collegiate aesthetic that’s in line with the district’s other high school. It features modern and flexible classrooms, labs and collaborative learning spaces, as well as areas for career and technology-focused programs. Athletic and fine art amenities include a 1,000-seat performance hall, a competition arena and an indoor practice facility. Outdoor courtyards and ample daylighting support the collegiate feel. A learning commons area incorporates a student union, dining and library / media lab. Administrative offices and teacher planning space are dispersed throughout the facility to support small learning communities.
