Weeks away from starting his final season at Allen High School, Aiden “Cash” Cooley is still perfecting his craft.

A reigning state champion for the Eagles, he most recently competed in the A Summer Mat Bash at Coppell High School and helped  Lone Star Mat Club Blue take home first place.

Before that, he was in Fargo, North Dakota, earning a pair of All-American honors for Team Texas.

Cooley took fifth at 215 pounds in the U.S. Marine Corps Junior Nationals freestyle bracket. In the 215-pound Greco bracket, he was fourth.

“My goal going into it, I mean, everyone’s goal is to win Fargo,” Cooley said. “It was hard; It was a long, long week for sure. It was a lot of matches. I’m glad I got those matches in because I’ve got some big tournaments coming up.”

This was his third trip to the Fargodome in Fargo, North Dakota. He said the experience helped him have success this year.

While he had more success this year in Greco, he said he’s definitely a freestyle wrestler.

“I’ve definitely accomplished a lot in Greco, but I am definitely a freestyle guy. I love attacking the legs,” he said.
