Fairview, TX – May 4, 2025 — In a commanding display of athletic talent, discipline, grit and coaching excellence, the Best Trained Elite wrestling club captured top of the podium in 16U & Juniors Women at the USA Texas State Championship this weekend, solidifying its reputation as one of the premier programs in the country for youth wrestling, and in particular, women’s wrestling.
Best Trained Elite won the Texas Championship for 16U & Junior Girls by more than 55 points. and a whopping 8 qualifiers to Team Texas.

How did Best Trained dominate the women’s wrestling field? Best Trained’s gold and silver medalist came from across North Texas including Allen High School, Anna High School, Frisco Centennial, Lovejoy High School, Plano Senior High School, Prosper High School, and Southlake High School.
2025 Freestyle State Champions include, Addison Hunt (110 lbs), Grace Romans (115 lbs), Jordyn Parker (140 Lbs), and of course nationally ranked and 4 time Fargo qualifier Kailin Sebert (135 lbs). Finalist and Team Texas Qualifiers include Aro Ogle-Garza (115 lbs), Jaelyn Shelley (140 lbs), and Tayla Shelley (135 lbs). Best Trained rounded out the podium with 3rd place for Cora Hayes (125) and Juliana Left (190) taking 4th.

The Best Trained Elite youth program is led by 2 father and son coaching duos, Head Coach Donny Whitted/Donovan Whitted(3X State Champion, 2019 NHSCA Champion, 2019 Texas Cadet Freestyle Champion) and Jeff Pulliam and son, youth coach Oliver Pulliam (8x All American and 2025 16U Texas FS State Champion). This season’s clinicians also included 1988 Olympic Greco Wrestler Evan Bernstein, Jerry Best (NCAA Hall of Fame) and Alan Hart (4X NCAA Qualifier), U20 World Champion Jasmin Robinson, and Iowa’s Nasir Bailey.
“These young women train like champions every day, and now they have the hardware to show for it,” said Coach Jerry Best. “It’s just the beginning.” Coach Donny Whitted commented, “ I am not going to disrespect these girls by training them any easier than our boys. They are tough and they are champions.”
With their performance, Best Trained not only claimed the team title but also sent a message to the national wrestling community: Texas girls are rising, and Best Trained is leading the charge.Is it any wonder women’s wrestling is the fastest growing sport in the USA?
