Texas Teams Traveling

  • Many top boys and girls high school wrestling teams from Texas are traveling out of state for tournaments this week.
  • Allen High School is the only Texas team competing in the Reno Tournament of Champions in Nevada.
  • College Park, Canyon Randall, and Melissa High School will be participating in the KC Stampede tournament in Kansas City, Missouri.
  • Arlington Martin High School will be at the Hall of Fame Duals in Stillwater, Oklahoma.
  • Other Texas teams will be competing in tournaments in Arkansas and New Mexico this week.

This week almost all the top 3 boys and girls teams are travelling out of state.  All 6 of the boys teams are and only 2 of the girls teams are.  Allen goes to Reno, College Park goes to Kansas City, and Arlington Martin goes to Oklahoma for the top 6A boy teams.  Canyon Randall and Melissa High School will be with College Park in Kansas City and Tascosa will be in New Mexico for the top 5A boys.  Only the College Park girls going to Kansas City for 6A and Azle girls going to Arkansas for 5A. 

Reno Tournament of Champions

Allen High School is the lone Texas team traveling to Reno Nevada this year for the Tournament of Champions event. Allen is 1 of 7 top rankings/" title="Full Texas High School Wrestling Rankings">40 ranked high schools listed as competing.  Gilroy from California @ #10, St John Bosco of California @ #11, Poway of California @ 12,  Pomona of Colorado @ #25, Omaha Skutt Catholic of Nebraska @ #28, Allen of Texas @ #36, and Liberty High School of Missouri @ #38.

Last year Allen after leading on day 1 in the team race, they ended with a 5th place team finish in the boys division and 3rd place in the girls division.  Aidan Cooley is the lone placer for Allen boys returning placing 3rd last year.  The Allen girls have 2 returning placers.  Kailin Sebert the returning champ and Juliana Lefort who placed 3rd.   Cayden Campbell and Austin Letsche lost in the blood round last year one match away from placing.

Allen has always placed in the top 10 at this tournament. 

The boys will start on Friday day 1, and the girls will start on Saturday day 2 and finish with the boys. The time zone here is Pacific Time Zone, so 2 hours behind Texas.
