Klein Oak High School is coming into the 2025-26 wrestling season with high hopes that their relatively young Boys and Girls wrestlers can fill the shoes of the many seniors who have moved on from the Black and Gold mat. Coach Ian Jones, who is starting his 8th season as head coach of the 6A-District 7 Panthers, has a lot of work to do to round his young team into mat ready shape to step into those big shoes.
This article features both the girls and boys program. Let’s start with the girl’s program:
Klein Oak Girls
The girls’ side of the team will have the most difficult task of the year in replacing the 206 victories won by the seven, standout seniors who graduated from KOHS last year. All of those wins led the Klein Oak Girls’ team to 3rd place at the Region 2 championship and a 1st place trophy at the District 7 tournament. They also recorded an 8th place finish at the Cy Fair ISD tournament, and a championship at the Tiger Classic.
The Girls will be captained by seniors Josie Clarke and Ariana Rangel.
Last season, Clarke had a 44-9 record at the 126 lb. weight class as a junior. She earned a District 7 championship and a Region 2, 3rd place medal, qualifying for the UIL championship. Unfortunately, an injury kept her from competing in her first state championship tournament. She has her hopes set on qualifying for State again, and earning All-State honors. Barring the unforeseen, Josie should reach her 100th win before the Regions in 2026.
