  • Day 3 of Fargo featured Junior boys’ freestyle wrestling with record attendance.
  • Texas had a total of 87 wrestlers in the 16U and junior divisions.
  • Some wrestlers had multiple matches while others only had one on day 1.
  • Several wrestlers remained undefeated with impressive performances.
  • The 16U boys had slightly fewer wrestlers than the juniors but also had strong showings on day 1.

Day 3 of Fargo started with the Junior boy’s freestyle.  This year broke yet another attendance record with 1888 competing in the junior division and 1785 in the 16U division.  A total of 3673 boys freestyle wrestlers.  Texas has 43 in the 16U, and 44 in the junior division for a total of 87 wrestlers.  To win or All-American in most all the small to middle weight brackets one would need to win 8 plus matches.  The brackets are so large that only 3 rounds of championship and 3 rounds of consolation will be wrestled today between the 2 divisions. On Tuesday, Day 4 (day 2 of men’s freestyle) they will only have 2 more rounds of championship and 4 rounds of consolation with the quarterfinals, semifinals, and medals being on Wednesday per the schedule.

The Junior boys got us started today and the brackets were 258-man brackets so some had a few byes and some got 3 matches in today, while other went 0-2 and some just had one match all day.  Texas juniors still have 6 on the championship side with 27 still alive on the consolation side for day 2 with only 1 loss.
