Women's college wrestling teams (WCWA, NCWA etc.). Texans needed!
« on: September 05, 2015, 04:10:47 PM »
Women's wrestling is growing impressively at the college level:

Here is a growing list of existing WCWA teams & other info:

Texan women have been helping wrestling teams nationwide populate their rosters.   For example, out in Virginia, Texans were anchor team members of this new program and helped keep it afloat long enough to gain traction:

That program keeps gathering momentum, with Texans' help:

Texan pioneers rock!

Meanwhile women's wrestling keeps growing at the college level and Texan women are highly welcome on wrestling teams nationwide.

Here's a Facebook page for the WCWA:

Here's a list of the most recently launched women's college wrestling programs nationwide:

Additionally, here's a recently updated (but not necessarily sufficiently inclusive) list of the latest schools competing in the "WCWA"

Schreiner U. (Kerrville, Texas)
Baker U. (Kansas)
Brewton Parker (Georgia)
Ferrum College (Virginia)
Bluefield College (Virginia)
Lyon College (Arkansas)
Emmanuel College (Georgia)
MacMurray College (Illinois)
Wentworth Military Academy (Missouri)
Campbellsville University,
Eastern Oregon University (Oregon)
East Tennessee State University (Tennessee)
Gray's Harbor (Washington)
Jamestown College,
Northwest Kansas Technical College (Kansas)
King College,
Lakeland College (Wisconsin)
Life University (Atlanta, GA.)
Lindenwood University Belleville,
Lock Haven University (Pennsylvania)
Menlo College,
Midland University,
Missouri Baptist University (Missouri)
Missouri Valley College (Missouri)
Oklahoma City University (Oklahoma)
Pacific University,
Presbyterian College (South Carolina)
Saint Charles (Missouri)
Simon Fraser University,
Southwest Oregon Community College (Oregon)
Southwestern (Kansas)
Springfield Technical Community College,
St. Mary's (Kansas)
Tiffin University (Ohio)
University of the Cumberlands,
University of St. Mary's (Kansas)
Waldorf College,
Wayland Baptist University (Plainview, Texas),
Wentworth Military Academy (Missouri) and
West Chester University.
York College (Nebraska)
Etcetera...

Nearly all if not all of them have Texans on their rosters...

There are also growing quantities of NCWA teams for women:

https://ncwa.net/teams

Of course it would help if the NCAA would finally recognize women's wrestling as an official sport:

http://www.ncaa.org/about/resources/inclusion/emerging-sports-women

That would help wrestling programs emerge and get stronger throughout the U.S.A., for both genders.    Texas can help lead the way on that front, with its hundreds of gals' high school wrestling teams that have already produced Olympic medalists and college championship contenders:

Meanwhile the USA recently had its first Olympic gold medalist in women's wrestling:

The stronger that existing teams become, the more other schools will see fit to launch their own.   Eventually the NCAA will have to take sufficient notice, but it's largely up to us...

Notice how well Texas's Wayland Baptist U. is increasingly doing thus far?   Go Pioneers!   :-)

Is it not encouraging how  Presbyterian College (an NCAA Division 1 school in South Carolina) recently added both men's and women's wrestling, making it the first NCAA D1 school ever to add women's wrestling, as well as the first one to add women's & men's wrestling simultaneously?   For more details, here's the list of known recently added NCAA, NJCAA, NAIA and CC wrestling teams nationwide (for men and / or women):
