Xochitl Mota-Petis to Compete at Pan-American Championships, May 6th

USA Wrestling has announced their Pan-Am Championships team and Klein’s Xochitl Mota-Petis will represent the team at 59 KG.

Petis was a two-time Texas High School state champion and a three-time finalist for Klein High School. Mota-Petis had a career high school record of 199-8 and won the junior national championship in both freestyle and folkstyle in 2018. She finished third in folkstyle at the junior nationals in 2019 after finishing fourth in both freestyle and folkstyle in 2017. Mota-Pettis is a three-time Texas USA Wrestling freestyle state champion and also captured the Greco-Roman title in 2018.

This year’s Senior Pan American Championships will serve as a qualifier for the 2023 Pan American Games in Santiago, Chile, Nov. 1-4, 2023. At the Olympic weights only, the top-four countries in each style will receive a bid to the Games. After last year’s first qualifying event, the Junior Pan American Games, the USA still needs to qualify at all weights in women’s freestyle and Greco-Roman as well as 57 kg and 97 kg in men’s freestyle.
