Ty’Rae Carter
The Battle of the Shield is a long-standing 20+ year rivalry between the Westside Wolves and Cinco Ranch Cougars. In this tense duel, it was also Westside High School’s senior night where it was some wrestler’s last time competing at their school.

Honorable Seniors:
The first Senior of the night was Alana Manzanares being escorted by Tracy Manzanares. Alana is a 4-year wrestler and a 2023 District champion, while at Westside she was involved in Westside Engineering & Geosciences Academy Program (WEGA) and after graduation she plans to attend Texas A&M and major in computer engineering.
The next senior is Kyle Lew escorted by Jenny and Doug Lew, Kyle is a 4-year wrestler here at westside along with being a 3-time AA, 3-time district Champion, 2-time regional Champion and a 2023 UIL State Champion. While at Westside Kyle was involved with Asian Culture Club and American Red Cross. After graduation Kyle will be attending the D1 program at University of Arkansa – Little Rock to wrestle and is undecided in his major.
Next, we had Amy Arzamendi escorted by Arcedalia Penaloza, she is a 3-year wrestler she is a one-time regional qualifier, Amy was part of the legal studies intel under Mainer Law after graduation she plans to join the AirForce and then pursue a degree in foreign/international affairs.
Now we have Delan Marewani being escorted by Salahuddin Mahmood, Delan is a 3-year wrestler and a 1-time regional qualifier. After graduation Delan he plans to join the military then get a degree in criminology.Walter Conley IV was escorted by Walter Conley III; this is Walter’s 2nd year wrestling and was a regional qualifier last year. Along with wrestling Walter was a varsity football player for the Wolves. After Graduation Walter plans to attend college for the study of Electrical Engineering at Coast Guard University….
