Weekend Tournament Notes

Here is a quick recap of some of the notable tournament results December 9-10;

Mid-America tournament in Oklahoma attended by Arlington Martin, Southlake Carroll and Keller Central had some surprises – most notable was at 132lb where #2 ranked 138lb Blaine Martinez of Keller Central faced Arlington Martins #3 ranked Conner Manderfeld. Martinez edged Manderfeld 3-1 to face Southlake Carroll’s Andrei Steinjann in the finals and won 5-3. Manderfeld came back to take 3rd. So texas takes 1,2,3 @ 132lbs in Oklahoma.  Also see that #10 ranked Cameron Haddock of Southlake beat #9 ranked Eric Two Lance of Martin for 3rd place @ 145. Adam Lindberg of Southlake takes a 2nd place finish at 182 along with Dominic Chavez of Martin @ 106.

Titan Games, finally got to see some 5A action on the radar. Timbercreek, a 6A school, edges out Dumas and Centennial by 1/2 point.  The Colony looks strong at 106 and 113.  Frisco Centennial’s #1 ranked at 113  Coapstick handled 120.  #1 ranked @ 120 Noah Martinez from Leander Rouse wins at 126. There could be a state battle here if Coapstick stays at 120 and Martinez goes back to 120.   #2 ranked  Montgomery from Dumas gets edged by Valentine of Timbercreek,  #5 at 138 Gilbert Falcon of Dumas pins his way to  a championship at 138.  #5 ranked Chance Holland of Lonestar claims a title as well.  At 160 unranked James Wujek of Prosper beats unranked Gerardo Almaguer of Centennial who beat #1 ranked at 170 Dylan Rowling from Leander Rouse in the Semis to win a championship. 6A and #3 ranked Austin Fox of Timbercreek pins his way to a Championship at 170.  #1 ranked at 195 Noah Sims of Centennial moved to 220 and took care of business winning 1st place. No surprise, State Champ Andrews from Grapevine pins his way to a championship.

Azle edges out Rockwall in the Lone Star Pools at St. Marks,  Westlake was there but still no Jack  Skudarcrzy, #2 ranked Anderson wins. results

South Texas Throwdown had alot of teams am not familiar with. San Antonio Johnson takes the team title.   Recognized #2 ranked Gregory Quintanilla of San Antonio Johnson won his weight @ 132. Manual Vega of mission HS pinned his way to a championship. alot of wrestlers here to go through. results and brackets

2016 Rough Rider Invitational another south Texas tournament whom San Antonio Reagan won has alot of wrestlers to rearrange in the rankings, #6 Rodriguez of Reagan took 3rd, Sameer Musali won at 132, #7 Gibb at 145 wins at 138 for Reagan

Killeen Duals reported in by Vandegrift.   Vandegrift 1st (5-0), wins over Killeen Ellison, Harker Heights, Copperas Cove, Georgetown East View and Austin Akins.
