Week 10
This is Texas Dual State weekend coming up and it has 7 of the top 10 boys 6A schools competing, and 7 of the top 10 boys 5A schools competing. Both #1 teams Allen and Melissa wont be in the action. On the girls side 3 of the top 5 girls 6A and 6 of the top 10 girls 5A will be competing. #1 Azle girls will be in the action at dual state, while #1 Allen 6A boys team will be in Sand Springs Oklahoma, #1 Melissa 5A boys team will be at the Arlington Bowie Tournament, not to be confused with the Bowie Tournament in El Paso.
For most teams this is the last tournament of the season before competing in district tournament on the road to state. Some may have some dual competition.
Flowing Wells Invitational in Tucson Arizona is where the #1 girls 6A team El Paso Eastwood will be along with El Paso Pebble Hills girls. The boys will be competing there as well.
Bobby Lyons Tournament in Sand Springs Oklahoma only has #1 boys Allen going this year. Normally there is 4-5 Texas teams competing.
Mabry Scramble going down at Canyon High School in New Braunfels is a good size tournament on paper with 26 teams but at least 7 of those teams are listed in other tournaments so it’s a wait and see who shows up here.
Sharyl Pederson Invitational happening at San Antonio Madison High School will have 20 plus teams all from the local San Antonio and surrounding areas of both boys and girls including some Corpus Christi schools.
Haltom City Stampede will compete at the Wiley G. Thomas Jr Coliseum in Halton City, a Ft Worth suburb. This is a 16 team tournament of boys and girls all from the DFW area.
Tiger Classic is happening at Klein Collins High School in Houston with 32 teams registered to compete all from the Houston area with San Antonio Churchill the only school travelling from outside the metroplex.
Cougar Classic happening at College Station High School in Bryan will be a 22 team tournament of boys and girls with Princeton High School traveling down from DFW area. The rest of the teams are from the surrounding areas of Bryan reaching out to Austin.
Clash on the Coast will happen at Clear Falls High School in League City a 12 team dual setting on the Houston coast hence the name. All area Houston teams with Victoria east and west coming up the coastline.
Tussle at the Trail at Chisholm Trail High School in Ft Worth is a small 10 team tournament of local Ft Worth area teams.
Jim Grimm Memorial will be at Lake Belton High School in Temple TX. A 24 team tournament of boys and girls
2026 Texan Tumbleweed Classic happening at Justin Northwest High School in North Ft Worth is a small 12 team tournament with Houston Westside and San Antonio Highlands teams listed as making the trip up.
15th Annual Coyote Classic happening at Frisco Heritage High School in Frisco is a 20 team tournament with a good mixture of 5A and 6A teams competing all from the DFW metro area.
47th Annual Bowie Invite going down at Bowie High School in El Paso will be a 30 plus team tournament with at least 5 New Mexico teams attending. This tournament is a good mix of 5A and 6A schools competing all from the El Paso area of boys and girls.
Arlington Bowie Invite at the Arlington ISD Activity Center in Arlington (DFW) will have 28 teams competing including #1-5A Melissa boys teams. Only 2 6A teams show to be registered for this event while the rest are all 5A teams. Boys boys and girls competing here.
District 16-5A Duals Tournament will be happening at Gruella High School in Rio Grande City down in the south. This will be a good preview of the district tournament as about every district 16-5A team will be there competing.
Red River Classic in Vernon TX almost in the panhandle will be a small 12 team tournament with 3 out of state teams coming in. Amarillo Caprock and a couple other teams travel down from the panhandle here.
