Wayland Baptist Finishes Third At NAIA Women’s National Invitational

Texas’ two top women’s college programs competed at the NAIA Women’s National Invitational this weekend.

Nina Pham might be the most dominant wrestler in the country pound for pound. In the course of her tournament she outscored her opponents 50-2 including this fall in the finals to pick up the 101 pound title.

Not to be outdone, WBU picked up another title at 136 where Desiree Zavala dominated her way to a 10-0 tech over #2 seed Randi Robison. Zavala did not have a point scored on her in this tournament.

At 109, Wayland nearly picked up another individual title as Asia Ray fell 16-14 in a hard fought bout with McKayla Campbell.

They crowned two other All-Americans at 123 with Jasmin Davis(8th place) and 130 with De’anna Prince(4th).

Texas Wesleyan finished thirteenth as a team and crowned three All-Americans.

At 101 Madison Brown finished 4th, at 116 Camille Fournier also finished 4th, and at 130 Mea Mohler finished 3rd.
