The USA TODAY High School Sports Awards are slated to celebrate the top student-athletes in the Dallas area.

On June 18, 2020, at 6 p.m., USA TODAY will fete high school standouts with a star-studded online show available free of charge to all viewers. The show will also be available on demand after the initial live event.

Here are the 10 nominees for Dallas Boys Wrestler of the Year.

Braxton Brown 

School: Allen High

Weight: 113 pounds

Class: 2021

College: Undecided

Noteworthy: Brown brought veteran savvy to Metroplex mats this winter and wrapped up a repeat in the Class 6A state title. He will be back for a senior campaign as well.

Dominic Chavez

Dominic Chavez

School: Martin High (Arlington)

Class: 2020

Weight: 120 pounds

College: Presbyterian

Noteworthy: A coach’s favorite and pound-for-pound force, Chavez claimed the 6A state title in the 120-pound class.

College: Oklahoma State

Noteworthy: The senior concluded his career with back-to-back state titles after outlasting Schertz Clemens High’s Darwin Hull for a 2-1 victory in the final.

Noteworthy: The Allen machine continued to maul the competition thanks to the likes of Danzi, whose 13-1 decision over Plano West’s Jacob Aragon in the state final allowed him to retain his state championship belt.

Noteworthy: Already a state champion at 126 pounds, Decker won a 5-3 decision over Plano West’s Tagen Jamison to collect a second state belt.

Noteworthy: Decker came in third place at the state meet and concluded his season with a 20-2 record.

Noteworthy: One year after claiming runner-up status, Moore came in third place at the Class 6A state championship.

Noteworthy: The senior helped Centennial to a Region II title, but he finished in sixth place at the class 5A state championship meet.

Weight: 170 pounds

Noteworthy: Mounshed was pinned by Katy’s Kishawn Higgins in the state semifinals but rebounded for a medal when he pinned Southlake Carroll’s Quinn Wilkinson.
