Undefeated 5A and 6A Girls

Thus far in the 2019-2020 season, there are fifteen girls that remain undefeated in the state of Texas.

The following are all of the undefeated girls in the 6A category. 

At 95 pounds, Mia Diaz from Amarillo Tascosa has a record of 39-0. She is currently ranked third in the state, but this may be due to the fact that she has yet to wrestle the top two ranked girls in her weight. She may clash with Moe Cruz, the number two ranked girl, in the semi-finals of the state tournament.

At 102 pounds, Amanda McAleavey from Cypress Creek has a record of 34-0. McAleavey is a returning state champion, and is ranked number one in her weight class. McAleavey wrestled Brittany Cotter, the number two ranked girl, at the Region 3 tournament, winning by decision in a 6-0 match. McAleavey and Cotter are on track to meet again in the finals of the state tournament.

At 110 pounds, Samara Chavez from Arlington Martin has a record of 20-0. She is currently ranked first in the state, and has already wrestled the number two ranked girl, Carmen Allred, at the Region 1 tournament last weekend. Chavez beat Allred by decision in a 4-0 match. They could meet again in the finals of the state tournament.

At 119 pounds, Camille Fournier from Weatherford has a record of 37-0. Fournier is a returning 2x state champion, and is ranked number one in her weight class. Fournier already wrestled the number two ranked girl in her weight class, Jessica Crane. Fournier beat Crane by pin at the end of the second period. They may see each other again in the finals of the state tournament.

At 128 pounds, there are two undefeated girls. Gianna Moreno from San Marcos, and Devin Patton from Plano West. Moreno has a record of 38-0, and is currently ranked first in the state. Patton has a record of 37-0, and is currently ranked second in the state. The two girls have yet to wrestle each other, and are on opposite sides of the bracket for states. They are on track to meet in the finals of the state tournament.

At 138 pounds, Lexi Basham from Northwest Nelson had a record of 61-0. She is currently ranked first in the state in her weight class. Basham is also a returning 2x state champion. She won her region and state, and did not wrestle the number two ranked girl in the district or regional tournament.

At 165 pounds, Kaitlyn Bryant from Katy Tompkins has a record of 40-0. This will be Bryant’s first time competing in the state tournament. Bryant is currently on the opposite side of the bracket from the number two ranked girl at 165. They could see each other in the finals of the state tournament.

At 185 pounds, Brittyn Corbishley from College Park has a record of 38-0. Last year, Corbishley took fourth in the state tournament, and is currently ranked first in the state at 185. She has placed every year she has competed in the tournament.

At 215 pounds, there are two undefeated girls. Hannah Francis from Coppell and Traeh Haynes from Cibolo Steele. Francis has a record of 39-0, and is currently ranked first in the state. Haynes has a record of 37-0, and is currently ranked second in the state. The two may clash in the semi-finals of the state tournament.

The following are all of the undefeated girls in the 5A category. 

At 110 pounds, Cassidy King from Cedar Park has a record of 42-0. She is currently ranked seventh in the state, although she is the only undefeated girl in her weight. King won her district by a major, and her region by decision.

At 138 pounds, Mea Mohler from Leander Glenn has a record of 35-0. She is currently ranked second in the state. She is on the opposite side of the bracket from the number one girl, Maddie Sandquist, for the state tournament. The two did not wrestle in the regional tournament.

At 185 pounds, Zoe Hankins from El Paso Parkland has a record of 27-0. She is currently ranked second in the state for her weight class. She could see the number one ranked girl, Natalia Villegas, in the finals of the state tournament.

At 215 pounds, Samyra Thomas from Houston Kashmere has a record of 8-0. She placed sixth in last year’s state tournament, and is currently ranked first in the state. Thomas did not wrestle the number two ranked girl, Precious Hernandez, in the regional tournament. She may clash with Hernandez in the finals of the state tournament.
