The top-ranked team in Class 6A will head the state tournament on the heels of winning the 1-6A Region championship.
Arlington James Martin had 309 points during the two-day event held Friday and Saturday at W.G. Thomas Coliseum in Haltom City. The runners-up and third-place teams, Southlake Carroll and Keller Timber Creek, respectively, had a combined 320 points.
The Warriors had 12 of 13 wrestlers move on and seven of them were regional champions — the exceptions were at 215 pounds where the Warriors took fifth and an open weight at 106. That spot had been occupied by Stone Perlungher, who won the district title last week.
Despite his absence, the Warriors picked up titles from 113 to 175 pounds.
Issak Arevalo improved to 27-2 by taking first at 113 pounds, beating South Grand Prairie’s Ivan Lopez, 3-0, in the finals.
