The wrestling mats were set ablaze at Valley View High School during the 2023 Girls Rumble on the Border, a competition held just a stone’s throw away from the U.S.-Mexico border. This year’s tournament brought together a diverse group of athletes, showcasing their prowess and determination in the various weight categories.

100-Pound Category:

In the 100-pound category, Haylee Torres of Harlingen South emerged victorious, claiming the 1st place position. Torres displayed exceptional skill, finishing the tournament with a perfect 3-0 record. Tania Vazquez of Mission secured the 2nd place spot, while Jackie Mora of Mission Veterans Memorial claimed the 3rd place position. The 4th place spot went to Abigail Martinez of Brownsville Lopez. The 1st place match saw Haylee Torres asserting her dominance over Tania Vazquez with a 3-0 record, securing the win for Harlingen South.
