The 2018 UIL State Championships Team Recap

Well another UIL State Championships is in the books and to no ones surprise Allen Boys – 6A  wins its 9th consecutive State Team Championship bringing 13 wrestlers to state and placing 11 wrestlers with 6 state champs 3 runner ups a 4th place and 6th place  finisher. Allen finished with 253 points, that was 137 points over 2nd place finisher  Arlington Martin with 116 points.  Martin for the 1st time in my memory didn’t have a State Champ.  They brought 9 wrestlers and placed 6 of them with 2 runner ups, 3 3rd place and 1 5th place finishers.  El Paso Franklin came in 3rd with 86 points.

 

 

 

 

 

Dumas wins their 2nd consecutive  5A Boys State Championship with bringing 11 wrestlers and placing 6.  They had 3 runner ups, and a 3rd, 5th, and 6th place placers.   Head Coach Clint Chamblin won 5A mens Coach of the Year. Dumas won with 115.5 points.  Prosper made it a close race coming in 2nd with 108 points bringing 7 wrestlers and placing 6 of them. They had 1 champ, 2 runner ups, a 3rd place, 4th place, and 6th place finishers.  Frisco Liberty came in 3rd with 80.5 points.

 

Houston Cypress Ranch wins the 6A Girls State Championship title with 96 team points with just 5 girls and all 5 placing.  1 champ, 1 runner up, and a 3rd, 4th, and 5th place finisher.  Assistant Coach Bill Durning got  6A women’s Assistant Coach of the year as well.  Katy Morton Ranch came in 2nd with 65 points bringing only 3 girls and all 3 of the placing 2nd.  Coppell takes 3rd with 60 points.

 

 

 

 

 

 

The El Paso Hanks Girls-5A win their 5th consecutive State Championship with 155.5 team points almost double over the 2nd place team bringing 9 girls to the tournament and placing 7.  They had 2 champs, 1 runner up, 3 3rd place finishers and 1 5th place finisher.  Canyon Randall finished 2nd with 78 team points bringing only 4 girls and all 4 placing.  They had a runner up, 2-3rd place and 1-4th place finishers.  Azle finishes 3rd with 59 points.
