Texas wrestlers will make their way to the Greensboro Coliseum Complex in Greensboro, North Carolina this weekend. 32 high school wrestlers are registered and will look to make a name for themselves as none of them are seeded in the top 32 per bracket which can be as many as 128 wrestlers per bracket and normally is. Its been since 2019 since the last Texas wrestler won a championship and that was by Samara Chavez of Arlington Martin. Before that it was Aidan Conner of Highland Park in 2018 at 285. Texas will send some state champs and some #1 ranked wrestlers. Kenneth Hendriksen of Creekview registered at 120 is a 2x state champ and #1 ranked in Texas. Hayward Metcalf is a Prep state champ from St Marks. #1 ranked at 132 Corey Camden of College Park was a state runner up. Jacob Smith @ 138, Roberto Bautista @ 145, and Caleb Mata @ 152 are all #1 ranked at their weight in Texas. Bautista is coming off a 2nd place finish in Las Vegas at the Freakshow. Dorian Olivarez of Spring Texas just won in Las Vegas as well at the Freakshow and is registered at 132 also.
