The last day of Fargo Nationals had 10 Texas women battling for their national placement with 6 starting the day in the semifinals.  3 juniors and 1, 16U made the finals while the other 6 women secured their place in Fargo history books.  Hailey Delgado, Kailin Sebert, and Alyciana Rogers are the junior finalist.  Aubrey Cunningham, an incoming freshman, is the lone 16U wrestler to make the finals.

All the wrestlers in the finals had to settle for 2nd place, runner up in the nationals largest tournament isn’t bad.

Below is individual roads to their placement

Junior Women

100lbs Noah Kovach. in her consolation quarterfinals match had Sky Ramos of Hawaii. Kovach started out in advantage but lost it at the end in a 11-9 decision. Kovach wrestles for 7th place.  Kovach had Lilly Breeden of Missouri in her 7th place match and that didn’t go her way either and Kovach settles for 8th place.

120lbs Hailey Delgado ranked #3 @115lbs nationally and the #1 seed in her semifinals match faced off with Cheyenne Frank a senior of Michigan who is ranked #2@120lbs and the #4 seed.  Delgado had a rough start giving up 5 points early but came back by the end of the first narrowing the score to 8-7.  In the 2nd period Delgado takes control and gets another take down and secures the match 13-8 to punch her ticket to the finals.

In the championship match Delgado had Marlee Solomon of Pennsylvania who happens to be the #1@120 nationally ranked wrestler.  The winner will be the #1 wrestler at this weight.

Solomon strikes first after halfway through the first period and thaty how the period mended with Delgado down 2-0.  In the 2nd period Delgado gives up another takedown after the first minute and that’s how the match ends with Delgado losing 4-0 and taking 2nd place.

130lbs Kailin Sebert ranked #14@130lbs nationally and the #1 seed in her semifinals match had Olivia Bezdicek of Idaho ranked #9@135lbs nationally.  Sebert starts out giving up 2 takedowns but gets the fall right at the end of the first period to punch her ticket to the finals match. That made 6 straight matches that Sebert didn’t wrestle past the first period.

Sebert had Madilyn Peach of Wisconsin #9@130lbs ranked nationally.

Sebert gives up the early takedown but comes back quickly getting 2 takedowns of her own and almost got a fall but wasn’t called.  Sebert gives up 2 more take downs and then gets caught and gives up the fall.  Sebert must settle for 2nd place.

130lbs Riley Drennon in her consolation quarterfinals match had Kayla Moroschan of Ohio. Drennon can’t get past Ohio and will wrestle for 7th place.  Drennon forfeited out and takes home an 8th place finish.

140lbs Jordyn Parker ranked #10@140lbs nationally faced off with Alexis Lazar of Michigan who is ranked #3@140lbs nationally and the #1 seed.  Parker had already beaten the #4 nationally ranked wrestler in her quarterfinals by 10-0 techfall.

Parker strikes first with an early takedown, then the battle starts with each wrestler shooting but not closing, at the one-minute mark Lazar get a single leg and a leg lace and scores 10 points.  Parker then has to go to the passive position and gives 2 more to lose 12-2.

Parker now faces Timberly Martinez of Colorado in the consolation semifinals which was a back and forth battle that Parker pulls out to advance to the 3rd place match.

Parker faced Ema Durst of Illinois and makes quick work of getting the fall in 37 seconds to claim a 3rd place stop sign.

190lbs Jaida Kuntz faced off with Irelynn Laurin of Tennessee in her consolation quarter finals match.  Kuntz took a loss and had to wrestle for 7th place where she got a forfeit to secure herself a 7th place finish.

235lbs Alyciana Rogers in her semifinals match faced off with Mya Brandenburg of Michigan.  Rogers took care of business and control the match point wise then secure the fall right before the end of the match to punch her ticket to the finals.  Rogers faced off with Aubrey Bartkowiak of Indiana who is ranked #6@235 nationally.

Bartkowiak is a lot bigger and throws Rogers right off the bat and gets the fall.  Rogers will settle for 2nd place.

16U Women

105lbs Cameron Hodge received a DQ in her consolation quarter finals match which put her into the consolation semifinals.  #3 seed Olivia Munson of California ranked #18@100 was waiting in the consolation semifinals.  This was a close match which Hodge lost 3-0.  This put Hodge going for a 5th place stop sign.  Hodge forfeits out and settles for 6th place.

110lbs Audrey Cunningham having already beaten Zolah Williams of Missouri a freshman ranked #7@110lbs nationally in her quarterfinals match.  Cunningham then faced off with Chloe Medlock of Oklahoma the #3 seed and gets a first period fall to punch her ticket to the finals.

In the finals Cunningham had Riley Karwoski of Pennsylvania a runner up last year at this tournament.  Cunningham gave up a takedown right off the bat, Karwoski was a whirlwind and kept locking up a cradle. Cunningham has to settle for 2nd place after a 1st period fall.

130lbs Zaylyn Woods in her semifinals match faced off with Anastasia Rodnikova of Illinois.  Woods gives up the first points, ties it back up at 4 each then gives up another 4 points.  In the 2nd period Woods gets 2 take downs to tie the score at 8 all. Texas challenges a call and loses so with 30 seconds left its 9-8. Woods gives up another take down and gets one herself, but time runs out and she doesn’t make the finals in a 11-10 loss

In the consolation semifinals Woods faced Gail Sullivan of New York. And things didn’t go her way as she takes a 10-6 decision loss.  Woods comes back though to win by decision over Finley Evans of South Dakota to get herself a 5th place stop sign.
