Texas USA Meeting Update

After the Dake vs Dieringer wrestle off Saturday at Round Rock High School in Round Rock Texas a suburb of Austin.  Texas USA Wrestling had their annual meeting.  Below is the Tentative Agenda with some of the most notable comments  by the State Chairman Charlie Strange.

Tentative Agenda:

• Roll Call, Designation of club representatives, Notice of Meeting, Approval of Minutes.
• State Chairman Report–Texas USA Wrestling grew 6% over all this year with the girls growing over 13% overall

• FS/GR Season Recap…It was reported as the largest Freestyle and Greco Roman state tournament ever with the most participants.
• Youth Folkstyle Season Planning
  • Ironman and State schedule (Will be updated @ txusaw.com)
    • State schedule for future years
  • USAW Folkstyle Tour of America event–Will be coming to Ft Worth Dec 21st and 22nd along with the USA Open for the 2020 Olympics
  • ESD/MSD Team TX update–(Will be updated @ txusaw.com)
  • Rule change proposals
    • Clarification to Novice definition rule, (See Below)
    • Updates to Girls age divisions, (See Below)
    • Proposed Div 4 and 5 weight class changes, (See Below)
    • Centralizing Open State location–Open/Novice/Rookie State championship to Austin/ Round Rock all on the same weekend.   Was voted on to be at Round Rock Tx March 7th and 8th partly due to a 25% decline in the rookie division when held at other locations around the state.
• Elections
  • Vice-Chairman-Jose Delgado (was voted in again for another 2 years)
  • Treasurer-Roy Beckman (was voted in again for another 2 years)
  • FS/GR Director-Steve Horton (was voted in again for another 2 years)
  • Secretary – Jim Dorsey with one-year remaining on his term steps down and Randall Balch steps in for the remainder of the term.
