Team Texas Places 3rd @ Womens Junior Freestyle Nationals

Team Texas matched their last years 3rd place finish at the USMC/USAW Junior Freestyle National Championships with a 3rd place finish this year.  Last year they had 46 total team points while this year 44 was enough to get the job done.   Team Texas only had 2 finalists this year compared to 4 last year.  Last year they had 10 AA’s with 67 juniors competing compared to this year 9 AA’s with 53 junior wrestlers.
I don’t have the stats but heard that this was the largest Womens National Tournament yet and with the national rankings being done now through USA.. “Quote from USA Wrestling” (There are 45 nationally ranked girls in the semifinals, and every weight has at least two nationally ranked wrestlers in them. The best weight in terms of rankings could be at 122 pounds, where all four wrestlers are ranked in the top five. (Please note they may be ranked in different weight classes).   So overall Texas went with less wrestlers this year into a national tournament that had at least 150 more women wrestlers then last year and still pulled out a 3rd place finish.
Random Notes.  Top Ranked Lexie Basham injury defaulted out.  Hunter Robinson had back to back to back top 10 ranked wrestlers.  Robinson beat the #8 Kamyshin, in the round of 16, lost to #4 Baublitz in the quarter finals, then lost next match to #3 Lopresti in the consolation side to get knock out.  152 was all stacked at the top.  Brittyn Corbishley beat Daniella Seeley in the blood round.  Camille Fournier only loss was to the Junior World Champ.  Mia Miranda after going 3-2 last year and not placing after being the Cadet champ the year before came back with a vengeance going 7-1 and placing 3rd.  Am sure there is a lot more great stories.
