Team Texas Day 1 Greco Recap

First day down in the Greco for Texas Blue . First up was Oklahoma which we thought was a winnable dual on paper. Unfortunately they came up just short , and somehow ran into a very strong Iowa team next round. The team did have a few set backs before it even started yesterday with one of their best guys not making weight . Leaving a hole at one of the spots, we had to forfeit there twice and shift 3 of them against Iowa hoping for the best . Also hurting them , our best guys couldn’t quiet pull through. A few of our hammers got beat ,and points we were counting on didn’t happen. One of them getting head locked in two different matches while leading both handedly . Another a little rusty which was expected,  but did improve as the day progressed , and another one of TX finest just didn’t show up . Although they did not win the dual , most did look much better in the last dual against Georgia.

On the brighter side the only cadet that we brought is leading the way with three dominating wins at 106 . 3F’s Jordan Stramiska goes undefeated yesterday knocking off Oklahoma, Iowa, and Georgia keeping his All Tournament goal alive. Also with very strong starts and still 3-0 are Sparta’s Nathan Grimes and Without Limits’ Collin Lawler. These three guys are pounding the tournament thus far.
On the Texas Red team it was Will Calliet , Brody Beckman , Keaton Fanning and Tristan Baugher all hanging tough with only one loss. After a couple of tough duals against Indiana gold and North Carolina, they finished up by beating Michigan Red.
Fully expecting both teams to get on track and finish the tournament strong today.
