Team texas was is Pool C to start the day and received a bye the first round. The second round they faced Team Pennsylvania and it wasn’t pretty, Daniel Goodrich at 220 was the only wrestler to win a match. Pennsylvania beats Texas 71-8. Texas next match was Idaho Red, it was a closer score but Texas let Idaho get by them 43-39. Texas 3rd match was against Colorado 2 and they rolled past them 52-9.
Texas got put into the Yellow Pool with their first dual against Colorado 1, Texas lost 45-28. Texas had North Carolina Blue their 2nd match and they won 39-27. Texas last match against Team Washington B was back and forth scoring but Washington pulled it out at the end 44-32 with some controversial calls towards the end that cost Team Texas a team point.
There wasn’t any All Team Freestyle wrestlers for Texas but there was some shining stars. Christian Lopez had the best record going 5-1, Micah Wiginton went 4-1 as well as Eli Sheeren went 4-1. The coaches were moving most of the wrestlers up and down in the weight classes throughout the day.
