In what was deemed as “the deepest women’s weight”, Tamyra Mensah-Stock dominated her way to her third Olympic/World title, second World Championship, and fifth World medal.
The Katy, Texas native, who wrestled collegiately at Wayland Baptist University, was largely untouchable throughout the tournament.
Mensah-Stock won by fall in the round of 16, then by technical superiority in her quarterfinal, before another VSU in the semifinals, then a fall over Japan’s Ami ISHII to win the 68 KG World Title.
