Schreiner University adds a Texan to their Coaching Staff

Story by Coach Jewell

The SU Mountaineer wrestling team would like to welcome San Antonio native Manuel Rocha to the coaching staff!??We wanted Texas raised wrestlers part of this coaching staff, and we knew this guy should be the first one! He was a 2x state place winner for San Antonio James Madison High school. He then went on to Wayland Baptist University where he wrestled for their very first wrestling team. He also became their first National qualifier for the program. Manuel also served as an assistant coach for the Pioneers under coach Cobb after his wrestling career. Making him the first Texas raised wrestler to go on and become an assistant coach at a Texas NAIA college program.
Coach Rocha has an outstanding wrestling background. However, what is most impressive to us is this guys story and how he was able to accomplish all of the above.
He’s a younger 200 pounder that will be a huge asset to our big guys, but there are bigger reasons we want him in front of all our wrestlers at SU.
He has been a part of a lot of history in his wrestling career, and he will again as he joins the coaching staff of the very first SU wrestling team!
Congratulations Coach , welcome home and welcome to the Mountaineers??
