Samara Chavez to Compete at Pan Am Champinships

Arlington Martin’s Samara Chavez will be in Mexico City Mexico this weekend competing in the Cadet Pan American Championships.  Along with Randall Balch and Na Humma attending as officials.  Pretty sure Coach Steve Horton is there already coaching the USA team.

Women’s freestyle team set for Cadet Pan American Championships in Mexico this weekend

 The women’s freestyle team is set for the 2019 Cadet Pan American Championships in Morelia, Mexico, which will take place from June 28-30. The roster is composed of wrestlers who finished as runners-up at the UWW Cadet World Team Trials this May.

Five of the nine wrestlers on the team have placed at international tournaments, including Virginia Foard (43 kg), who took third in the 2017 Saori Yoshida Cup in Japan, Samara Chavez (49 kg), who is a 2017 Cadet Pan American Championships runner-up, Mia Macaluso (61 kg), who was a runner-up at the 2019 Flatz Open in Austria, Tiffani Baublitz (69 kg), who took third at the 2019 Flatz Open, and 2018 Cadet World Team member Tristan Kelly, who was a runner-up at the 2018 Cadet Pan American Championships.

Below is a breakdown of the team and list of individual accomplishments.

36-40 kg: Virginia Foard (Reva, Va./ Team Cobra Wrestling)– 2019 Cadet World Team Trials runner-up, third at 2018 Women’s Nationals, 2017 UWW Schoolgirl National Champion, third at 2017 Saori Yoshida Cup

43 kg: Lizette Rodriguez (Fremont, Calif./ James Logan HS Wrestling)– 2019 Cadet World Team Trials runner-up, third at 2018 Fargo Junior Nationals, third at 2017 Fargo Cadet Nationals

46 kg: Nyla Valencia (Morgan Hill, Calif./ Bulldog Wrestling Club)– 2019 Cadet World Team Trials runner-up, 2019 U15 World Team Trials runner-up, 2018 Schoolgirl Nationals runner-up

49 kg: Samara Chavez (Arlington, Texas/ Arlington Martin HS Wrestling)– 2019 Cadet World Team Trials runner-up, eighth at 2018 Fargo Junior Nationals, 2018 Fargo Cadet Nationals runner-up, third at 2018 Cadet World Team Trials, 2017 Cadet Pan Am Championships runner-up, 2017 Cadet World Team Trials runner-up, third at 2017 Fargo Cadet Nationals.

53 kg: Melanie Mendoza (Selma, Calif./ Selma HS Wrestling)– 2019 Cadet World Team Trials runner-up, fourth at 2018 Fargo Cadet Nationals, seventh at 2018 Cadet World Team Trials, seventh at 2017 Fargo Cadet Nationals

57 kg: Skye Realin (Mililani, Hawaii/ Grapplers HI)– 2019 Cadet World Team Trials runner-up, seventh at 2018 Cadet World Team Trials,

61 kg: Mia Macaluso (Otisville, N.Y./ Minisink Valley Youth Wrestling Club)– 2019 Cadet World Team Trials runner-up, 2019 Flatz Open runner-up, third at 2018 Cadet World Team Trials, third at 2017 Fargo Cadet Nationals,

69 kg: Tiffani Baublitz (Stewartstown, Pa./ Modern Day Gladiators Wrestling Club)– 2019 Cadet World Team Trials runner-up, fourth at 2019 Junior World Team Trials, third at 2019 Flatz Open, third at 2018 Fargo Cadet Nationals.

73 kg: Tristan Kelly (Erie, Colo./Southern Peak Wrestling Club)- 2019 Cadet World Team Trials runner-up, 2018 Cadet World Team Trials champion, 2018 Fargo Junior Nationals champion, 2018 Fargo Cadet Nationals champion, 2018 Pan Am Championships runner-up, sixth at 2017 Fargo Junior Nationals, third at 2017 Fargo Cadet Nationals.
