The 1-6A Regional Tournament featured six of the top 13 in the state, including the No. 1 team in the WrestlingTX team rankings.
However, it was the No. 7-ranked Coppell Cowgirls that took home the team title with 141 points at the meet held at W.G. Thomas Coliseum in Haltom City.
No. 1-ranked El Paso Eastwood was second with 127 1/2 points, while Euless Trinity — tied for fourth — took third with 100 points. Another No. 7 — Arlington James Martin — was fourth with 94 1/2 points. The field also featured state-ranked Southlake Carroll — tied for fourth — and Keller Central, which was tied for seventh.
Eastwood had the most regional champions with three, while Southlake Carroll was the only other team with multiple – ending with two.
Coppell’s Scout Carrell improved to 34-1 on the year with a 4-0 run over the two-day event. She beat Martin’s Jania Dunigan, 5-2, in the finals of 132 pounds. Piper Carrell (107) also reached the finals but took second for the Cowgirls….
