Recap: 2022 Warrior Invitational (Boys)

Great Tournament, with a lot of very competitive matches. What a great way to kick off the season. A great mix of 6A, 5A, prep and one out of state team Airline, LA.

Melissa and Azle looked good and took 5th and 4th respectively without a full line-up. Airline took 3rd and was very strong in the consolation round.

But Arlington Martin and College Park put on a battle for 1st with AM putting nine in the finals to College Park’s seven, with four head-to-head matchup.

This came down to the very last match with Arlington Martin edge out College Park by only eight points. I am sure we will see a lot of these matchups again.

The 165 Championship match featuring #1 State/National #12-p4p National Angelo Ferrari (Melissa) was a work of art to watch.

Let’s break down the championship finals, match-by-match:

106 Championship

Michael Finders (Airline) 6-1, So. over Forfiet

Stone Perlungher—OW (Arlington Martin) 2-1, Jr.  Perlungher missed weight on day two of the tournament

113 Championship

Andrew Huerta (Conroe Woodlands College Park) 5-0, Fr.
Over Dec 5-2
Logan Olsen (Airline) 6-1, Jr.

This was a back and forth battle. Olsen get 2 near fall in 2nd period with Huerta reversing for two points. Huerta get a three point near fall in third to seal victory. Texas: Be on the watch out for Huerta, he will be a player as a freshman!

#2 River Perlungher (Arlington Martin) 4-0, Sr.
WBF 3:32
Kody Tanimoto (All Saints Episcopal School) 3-1, Jr.
