Random Weekend High School Tournament Updates

Snakebite Invitational was the lone Texas High School tournament this weekend for both boys and girls.   San Marcos was within 1.5 points of winning the tournament getting edged out by La Joya Juarez Lincoln 192.5-191.  Just going through some of the champs from the South I notice a couple of undefeated wrestlers and 1 loss wrestlers.  Joshua Alaniz of Edinburg Vela is 18-0 @ 182,  and Gabriel Martinez of Sharyland is 15-0 @ 285.  La Joya Juarez Lincoln High has a few 1 loss wrestlers with with Sergio Morales @ 152, 21-1.  Alexander Silva @ 170, 18-1.  Roberto Silva of Edinburg Vela also is 23-1 @ 145.
In the Girls,  Destiny Baltierra of PSJA High School is still undefeated @ 185 with 20-0.
Just a quick note that San Marcos High did show some undefeated wrestlers for the tournament but not their season record.

Who’s Bad? National Classic in Denver had several stand out wrestlers all wrestling for their clubs with 3 high school champions.   Alex Hernandez of Dumas a Dumas wrestling club wrestler takes a 1st place finish @ 106.   Deshawn Cosby of Shertz Clemans a Ohana Wrestling Academy wrestler won the 132lb championship and Sam Mora of Tascosa a Maverick Elite wrestler won the championship @ 170.   Other placers were Jesse Martinez @ 113 placed 3rd with Maverick Elite,  At 138 Gilbert Falcon of Dumas placed 3rd and Josaya Nevarez place 6th for Maverick Elite. At 145 Jared Gallegos of Maverick Elite takes 2nd along with Jaydn Heaton of Canyon Randall a Randall Youth Club wrestler at 160lb.   Diego Falcon of Dumas placed 4th @ 182.   Notice that Dumas, Maverick Elite, Randall Youth Club, and some El Paso wrestler placed in the youth divisions.

Bethlehem Holiday Classic in Pennsylvania  Arlington Martin had 2 in the finals.  Donavan Whitted @ 106 was up against the #1 ranked 106 pounder in the nation and takes 2nd with a 15-3 MD.   That made it the 2nd week in a row Steve Poulin of New York beats a Texas kid our #1 and #2.
Eric Two Lance was also in the finals @ 160 and he takes 2nd but only after losing the UTB 3-3.  Zach Carpenter placed 3rd @ 152.  Dominic Chavez didn’t wrestle.  Martin takes 8th place out of 32 tough PA Teams.
