Random Notables of the Weekend

With all the tournaments and duals this weekend there was some things noticed from posting results, updating rankings, and people updating me.  So the list of  notables will be very random.

Frank Halloran Ranger Classic–  McKinney North places higher then Dripping Springs.

Tiger Classic Boys and Girls– #3-6A ranked Isaiah Calderon of Cy-Falls stays undefeated at 36-0, younger brother Ruben wins at 106lb and is named Most Outstanding Wrestler.  #3-6A Kyle Kretzer  of LC Clear Springs wins again.  #7-6A Eli Sheeren of Klein a freshman is always in the top 3 last couple of tournaments with 2 of his 4 losses to Kretzer.  Stocks arising.  GIRLS.. #1-6A ranked Esthella Trevino of Cy-Ridge makes weight and stays undefeated while earning most outstanding wrestler honors.  Unranked Alexis Sanchez of Cy Ridge wins over #7-6A Hayley Haygood of Austin Bowie to make the ranking top 10.  #1-6A @ 119 Xochitl Mota-Petis of Klein moves up to 128 and stays undefeated will this be a show down against #1 Nationally ranked Alex Liles of Allen at State??? #1-6A @ 148 Hunter Robinson  College Park drops down to 138, stays undefeated.

Tomas Garces Invitational– unranked Johnithyn Salyers of Pharr-San Juan Alamo Memorial is undefeated @ 126.  Jacob Vasquez of San Benito is undefeated @138, as well as Mark Gutierrez @ 220 for Pharr-San Juan Alamo Memorial.

Lone Star Arm Bar Invitational– #7-6A @ 126 ranked Joseph Segura of League City Clear Falls stays undefeated.  #15-6A @ 170 Manny Elizondo of Friendswood is also undefeated.

Red River Classic- This tournament wasn’t on track or Flo so all my updates were from random parents and coaches and what I snooped off facebook.  The biggest news of the weekend is that #9-6A @ 138 Jesse Diaz of Tascosa drops to 132 and gives #1-5A @ 132 Heath Roth of Arygle his first career High School Loss. Diaz wins in OT 2-0.  #4-5A @ 106 Joseph Cortez of Lubbock Monterey beats #2-5A @ 106 Andres Mendoza of Caprock.   Azle wins the tournament with Canyon Randall 2nd, and Tascosa 3rd.  Xavier Torres wins the MOW.

Wolverine Invitational– Prosper almost doubles the team scores in their win.  #2-5A @ 138 Mike Kumlien of Northwest beats #2-6A @ 138 Adam Maestas of McKinney Boyd giving Maestas his 2nd loss of the year. #1-5A @ 145 Brady Mistr of Wakeland stays undefeated at 33-0.

All-Valley Championships– #3-5A @ 106 Diego Serna of Sharyland Pioneer wins a big bracket to stay on top. winning the Championship over #2-5A @ 113 Ivan Ozuna of Rio Grande City Grulla who drops to 106.  #2-6A @ 132 Roberto Silva of Edinburg Vela stays undefeated.  Unranked Nick Padilla of Edinburg North is undefeated and makes the ranking board @ 160-6A.

Knockout Sportswear Maverick Stampede– #4-6A @ 106 Jackson Crandall of Katy finally gets a win over #3-6A Christian Lopez of Westside. #2-6A @ 145 Daniel Manibog still winning, dont think anyone has went the distance with him since his loss to Dooley at the Outlaw.  Unranked Drake Stamatis of Katy Seven Lakes is undefeated, “coulda of swore he was on the ranking board”.  He will be now.  #2-5A @ 285 Chidoze Nwankwo of Foster is back in business winning.  GIRLS. #2-6A @ 138 Kayla De Leon of Cinco Ranch moves up to 148 and takes 1st.

Nothing on Arlington Martin, Southlake Carroll, or El Paso Franklin.  Nothing posted anyway.

#17 nationally ranked Allen takes 2nd at the Jay Hancock Tournament in Oklahoma behind #19 nationally ranked Choctaw missing 4 starters from the line up. Martinez, Wilson, Robinson, and Ferrari.  #12 ranked @ 170 nationally Braedan Redlin does beat #13 @ 160 ranked nationally Jaydn Curry of Choctaw.

Dumas went to Trinidad Co. to the Gene Gagliardi Invite and won a team title, I believe thats the 2nd team title in a row in Colorado tournaments this year.  Carlos Sanchez and Gilbert Falcon win Championships and Jesse Martinez hits his 100th win.
