Coach Tommy Murray is starting his fifth season at the helm of the Langham Creek Lobos in the Cypress Fairbanks School District. The program has come a long way since his first season during the middle of the pandemic. He now has ninety male and female student-athletes listed on the Track Wrestling roster. Of that number, only eighteen are in 12th grade.

Last season, the Lady Lobos did not add a tournament championship to their trophy case, but they were able to earn four top 5 finishes, including the Region III tournament. The Boys also did not win any title trophies, but were strong enough to finish in the top ten in 8 of 9 tournaments. The only one where they did not do that was at the State 6A Championships.
Coach Murray is looking for similar results this year, but looking forward to bringing that 1st place trophy home sometime during the season.
The Girls return their top three wrestlers this season: Hailey Bello, Yvette Zepeda, and Stephanie Diaz-Salazar. All three qualified for the state tournament but none of them placed. They have all worked determinedly during the off-season to be able to step up on the podium in February.
Bello has earned a 122-31 record in the 100 lb. weight class over the last two seasons at 100 lbs., and wrestling at 95 lbs. her first season. Hailey has been a force in not only her district, but the entire Houston area the last three years. Last year she had titles at Region III and the Westside HS Chicken Wing, and top three in four other tournaments. Last year she made it to the blood round before bowing out. She is currently ranked #10 at 107 lbs.
