Five different Outstanding Wrestler Awards were given this past weekend at the Border Wars that was held in Wichita Falls. Two on Friday and three on Saturday. The OW Award winners were:
Rookie Division 1 Outstanding Wrestler – Calvin Lassiter of ReZults Wrestling (50-55 lbs.) Lassiter won all his matches in the 1st period by fall.
Open D6 (High School) Boys Outstanding Wrestler – Abathar Mounshed – Arlington Bowie Wrestling (170 lbs.). Mounshed, had bonus point wins in all his bouts, with three pins and a major decision. Mounshed was third in the 2020 Texas 6-A State Championships and is currently ranked #3 in the state at 170lbs
Girls Outstanding Wrestler – Aubrey Yauger – Spartan Mat Club (138). Yauger is ranked No. 14 nationally at 138 pounds, and won all four of her bouts by fall. Yauger is also ranked #2 @ 138- 5A in the state
Tots, D1 Open, D2 Open Outstanding Wrestler – Samuel Martin – Team Punisher (49-52 lbs.) Martin won all his matches by fall within the 1st minute of each match winning one match in 13 seconds.
D3 Open, D4 Open, D5 Open Outstanding Wrestler – Grayson Carpenter – Whitted Trained
(150 lbs.). Carpenter like Martin won all his matches by fall within the first minute of each match but one upped Martin by having his quickest fall at 12 seconds
