The Dumas Demonettes faced off against a young Lady Longhorn team. The Dumas Demonettes, in their short four-year existence, have managed to climb to the top of the Texas Rankings.
With Dumas going through some coaching changes, the girl’s program hasn’t missed a step. The girls were worried about who was going to take the helm. Coach Clint Chamblin started this girl’s program 4 years ago, and after he decided to step away from coaching, the job went to long time Dumas assistant Coach Chris Holzworth.
In an interview, Emily Loya, a four year starter and captain of the team said, “We were all worried about who was going to step in and continue to lead us to where coach Chamblin was taking us. There were some bad rumors, and we were scared for our program. We all have worked so hard for this program, and we love it.
We have had over 30 girls in the program since it started my freshman year, and it’s becoming one of the most successful programs in Dumas.” Having Coach Holzworth at the helm, it’s pretty safe to say the program will continue to head in the direction everyone expects.
The Demonettes controlled the rhythm of the dual from the first whistle, taking only a couple of losses along the way. The final Score between the Demonettes and the Lady Longhorns ended up 51 to 18 in favor of the Demonettes.
100 #1 ranked Serese Guillen went up against a very tough 15 ranked Tammy Salazar. After a whole 3 periods Guillen took the win with a decision.
