NHSCA Texas Results

Texas takes 53 wrestlers to the 2022 NHSCA High School Nationals to the Virginia Beach Sports Center in Virginia Beach Virginia this past weekend.  This National tournament is split into grades Freshmen, Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors in the boys division why the Girls and Middle School are all group together.  Out of the 53 wrestlers only 7 placed in the top 8.  

The freshman boys were the top placers with 4 out of the 9 wrestlers placing.  Caio Aron and Dorian Olivarez were the high placers getting 4th.  Javin Jackson Bey grab a 6th place finish while Andrew Barford claimed a 7th place finish.

The Sophomores had 13 wrestlers and only two of those placed.  Kolten Oborny a 6th place 6A UIL State finisher for College Park claimed a 6th place national finish at 145 against his fellow sophomores while 5A State Champ Garrett McChesney grabbed an 8th place finish at 132lbs.

The 17 Juniors and 5 Seniors made up of state champs and placers who made the trip didn’t place.  A few of them lost in the blood round almost making it to the medal rounds.

The lone girl at the tournament Jazmine Garcia didn’t place.
